In a time where technology is evolving at a neck-breaking speed, it is even more precious than ever to take a moment to reconnect with the natural world. This piece serves as a reminder of the natural beauty that can be found in our everyday lives: from something as mundane as black beans, comes a gorgeous muted blue dye.

Modeled by Emily Wang, who — in addition to being my sister, confidant, and graphic advisor — is usually the one on the other side of the camera.

 Dye bath created by soaking black beans in water for two days. The fabric was first scoured and mordanted to improve colorfastness.
